The Senior League World Series will feature five regional teams from the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and the Maine District 3 champion the host district. Information on teams will be posted when it becomes available.
Tanauan Little League,
Tanauan City, Philippines, became the first team to qualify for the 2011 Senior League
Baseball World Series when it won the Asia-Pacific championship on July 1, 10-0 over
Indonesia. Tanauan was 2-2 in pool play and outscored opponents 44-13 in the three-team
regional, held June 26 through July 1 in Bacolod City, Philippines.
Tanauan will be making its first ever trip to Bangor.
Since Illam Central L.L., Makati City, Philippines, reached the semifinals of the 2009 World
Series, losing to eventual champion West University L.L., Houston, Texas, Asia-Pacific has not
won a game in the series. Last year’s Asia-Pacific entry, Saipan L.L., Saipan, Commonwealth of
the Northern Mariana Islands, went 0-4 in pool play.
Asia-Pacific teams are 10-27 (.270) in Bangor World Series, with the region’s best showing in
2009, when Illam Central finished with a 3-2 record.
Tanauan will play in Pool B, with Latin America and defending World Series champion Aruba
South L.L., San Nicolas, Aruba; U.S. Southeast champ Palm Bay East L.L., Palm Bay, Fla.; U.S.
West champ Hilo L.L., Hilo, Hawaii; and U.S. Central champion Northeast/Fraternal Northwest
L.L., Midland, Mich.
Uniform colors: Navy blue and red.

Friuli Venezia Giulia L.L., Friuli
Venezia Giulia, Italy, will be making its second trip in three years to a Bangor Senior League
Baseball World Series. The Italians captured the Europe-Middle East-Africa regional with a 5-4
win over Stuttgart American/Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany, on July 7.
Friuli Venezia Giulia was 3-1 in pool play in the five-team regional, held July 1 through July 7 in
Novara, Italy, and 5-1 overall. The team outscored opponents 53-24.
Friuli Venezia Giulia appeared in the 2009 World Series, going 1-3. The win, 11-8 over West
Madison National L.L., Madison, Wis., ended EMEA’s 14-game losing streak in the series.
This will be the third consecutive year a team from Italy will represent EMEA, as Lazio L.L.,
Lazio, Italy, was last year’s entry, going 1-3 in pool play, defeating Canada champion East Park
L.L., Edmonton, Alberta, 13-6.
EMEA teams have an overall Bangor World Series record of 6-30 (.167). No EMEA team has
ever advanced to the semifinals in a Bangor World Series, the only region not to do so. The best
showing by an EMEA team was the 2-2 record Khovimo L.L., Moscow, Russia, posted in the
2003 World Series.
Friuli Venezia Giulia will play in Pool A, which includes Maine District 3 champ
Brewer/Orrington L.L., Brewer; Canada champ Notre-Dame-Du-Grace L.L., Montreal, Quebec;
U.S. Southwest champ Rose Capital East L.L., Tyler, Texas; and U.S. East champ Easton/Home
Run Baker L.L., Talbot County, Md..
Uniform colors: Orange and black.

Aruba South L.L., San
Nicolas, Aruba, will seek to become the first Bangor World Series champion to repeat when it
returns to the Queen City in August.
Aruba South won its third consecutive Latin America championship on July 9, defeating Flor
Amarilla L.L., Valencia Carabobo, Venezuela, 8-3. Aruba South was 3-1 in pool play during the
regional, held July 2-9 in Mexico City, and 5-1 overall. The team outscored opponents 61-23.
Aruba South made its first trip to Bangor in 2009, losing in the semifinals to eventual World
Series runner-up Niles-Centerville L.L., Fremont, Calif., 7-6, after going 3-1 in pool play. It won
last year’s World Series title with an 8-1 win over host Maine District 3’s Bangor East/West
L.L., Bangor, after going 3-1 in pool play and defeating South Vineland L.L., Vineland, N.J., in
the semifinals.
Latin America has an overall record of 35-14 (.714) in Bangor World Series play, with eight
semifinal appearances and five championship appearances in nine series. The region won the
2002 (Pabao L.L., Willemstad, Curacao, Dutch Antilles), 2006 (Paraguana L.L., Falcon,
Venezuela), and 2010 series (Aruba South).
Aruba South will play in Pool B, which includes Asia-Pacific champ Tanauan L.L., Tanauan
City, Philippines; U.S. Southeast champ Palm Bay East L.L., Palm Bay, Fla.; U.S. West champ
Hilo L.L., Hilo, Hawaii; and U.S. Central champion Northeast/Fraternal Northwest L.L.,

Uniform colors: Green and yellow.

Brewer/Orrington L.L., Brewer, will
be the host team for the 2011 World Series after defeating defending Maine District 3 champion
Bangor East/West L.L., Bangor, 4-2 on July 26. Brewer/Orrington last represented Maine District
3 in the 2007 World Series, going 0-4.
Brewer/Orrington went 5-1 in the double-elimination tournament, outscoring opponents 52-11.
The team’s loss came to Bangor, which required the cross-river rival to defeat the 2010 World
Series runner-up on consecutive nights.
Maine District 3 teams have a 10-28 (.263) overall record in the series since the event moved to
Bangor in 2002. The host district’s best showing was last year, when Bangor East/West made it
all the way to the championship game, losing to Aruba South. Last year was the first time a
Maine District 3 team had won more than a single game in the series.
The 2011 district championship for Brewer/Orrington avenged a frustrating loss to Bangor
East/West in last year’s championship game, in which Brewer/Orrington had the winning run on
third base in the bottom of the seventh inning in what was a 7-7 game at the time. Bangor
East/West went on to score 12 runs in the top of the eighth inning to win the championship.
Brewer/Orrington will play in Pool A, along with Canada champion Notre-Dame-Du-Grace L.L.,
Montreal, Quebec; EMEA champion Friuli Venezia Giulia L.L., Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy; U.S.
Southwest champion Rose Capital East L.L., Tyler, Texas; and U.S. East champion

Uniform colors: Crimson and gray.

Palm Bay East L.L., Palm Bay, Fla.,
successfully defended its U.S. Southeast title with a 3-2 win over Dumfries District L.L.,
Dumfries, Va., on Aug. 9. The host of the regional went 2-1 in pool play in the eight-team
tournament and 4-1 overall while outscoring opponents 25-15.
In last year’s World Series, Palm Bay went 1-3. It was the first time a team from the U.S.
Southeast regional had failed to win more than one game in a Bangor World Series and only the
second time in a Bangor Series that a team from the region failed to advance to the semifinal
round.
Since the series moved to Bangor in 2002, U.S. Southeast teams have gone 23-13 (.639) in pool
play and 27-19 (.587) overall, ranking the region fourth in pool play records. The region has
made seven semifinal appearances and three championship game appearances, with one World
Series title: Cartersville L.L., Cartersville, Ga.’s unprecedented comeback from losing its first
two pool play games in 2007.
Palm Bay East will play in Pool B, along with Asia-Pacific champ Tanauan Little League,
Tanauan City, Philippines; Latin America champ and defending World Series champ Aruba
South L.L., San Nicolas, Aruba; U.S. West champ Hilo L.L., Hilo, Hawaii; and U.S. Central
champion Northeast/Fraternal Northwest L.L., Midland, Mich.
Uniform colors: Burgundy and yellow.

Hilo L.L., Hilo, Hawaii, won the U.S.
West regional on Aug. 9, defeating defending regional champion Manhattan Beach L.L.,
Manhattan Beach, Calif., 9-1. Hilo was 3-0 in pool play in the regional, held in Ontario, Calif.,
and 5-0 overall while outscoring opponents 51-17
Hilo has appeared in two previous Bangor World Series: 2003 and 2007. The league won the
series in 2003, finishing with a 5-1 record, and lost in the semifinals in 2007, finishing 4-1.

overall record of 37-12 (.755). The pool play record is the best of any region. The region has
made eight semifinal appearances (tied with Latin America for the most) and five championship
game appearances (tied with Latin America for the most). However, the region has won only one
Bangor World Series – Hilo’s 2003 title.
Hilo will play in Pool B, along with Latin America and defending World Series champion Aruba
South, San Nicolas, Aruba; Asia-Pacific champion Tanauan L.L., Tanauan City, Philippines;
U.S. Southeast champion Palm Bay East L.L., Palm Bay, Fla.; and U.S. Central champion
Northeast/Fraternal Northwest L.L., Midland, Mich.
Uniform colors: Yellow and black.

Notre-Dame-de-Grace L.L.,
Montreal, Quebec, defeated Windsor West L.L., Windsor, Ontario, 4-3 on Aug. 10 to win the
Canada Regional. Notre-Dame-de-Grace was 5-0 in round robin play and 7-0 overall in the
regional, held in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, while outscoring opponents 37-19.

Cumberland L.L., Upper Deerfield, N.J.
Since that semifinal loss, Canada has gone 0-8.
Notre-Dame-de-Grace will play in Pool A, along with Maine District 3’s Brewer/Orrington L.L.,
Brewer; EMEA champ Friuli Venezia Giulia L.L., Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy; U.S. East champ

Texas, won the U.S. Southwest Regional with a 4-3 win over Northwest L.L., Laredo, Texas, on
Aug. 10. Rose Capital East went 4-0 in the six-team, double elimination tournament, held in

This is Rose Capital East’s second appearance in a Bangor World Series. In 2007, the team went

Peru and Oglesby, Ill., and 4-2 overall. In the semifinals, Northeast/Fraternal Northwest avenged
a 6-0 round robin loss to 4-0 host Peru L.L., Peru, Ill. The win over Hazard Perry County/Leslie
